Personal Stories from Widows

My name is Mrs Stella ibie. I want to firstly appreciate the organiser of the widows meetings for always assisting us the widows every month with foodstuffs and other gifts. Secondly I want to appreciate them for giving me the grinding machine because it has helped me with my children in many ways.

Before I was giving the machine things were becoming hard for us, we were feeding hard. I couldn’t pay my children’s school fee and house rent had almost expired. But now with the grinding business I was able to save small money and start selling pepper on the side.

Now feeding is not a problem again, I was able to pay my house and children’s school fees. I really want to appreciate the organiser and sponsor of this program because I have been a beneficiary of this program for almost 10 years from financial assistance to foodstuffs to clothes donation and other things.

This program has done a lot in my life. I pray God bless everybody that has always supported us.

Mrs Stella ibie

My name is Mrs Janet Babarinde, I have been attending this program for the past 8 years, and I am one of the beneficiaries of the empowerment program for widows.

I am a fashion designer but at one point thieves came to my shop and stole my sewing machines and other machines in the shop. I couldn’t work like I used to because I had to start borrowing machines to work and because of that I lost a lot of customers also. I had to stop sewing and start working as a cleaner for other people.

After I was given the sewing machine I was able to resume my sewing business, I have opened my shop back and I have started gaining my customers back little by little. I want to thank the
organiser of this program and our sponsors that God bless them and their pocket will never run dry. As they are always assisting us the widows God too will always assist them in everything
they are doing.

Personal Stories from Students

Dear Ma,

I am Oyinloye Adunola Sharon. I am in JSS 3. I am 12 years old. I am writing to express my review on after-school care impact to me in my academics. I have benefited a lot in the lesson and the lesson has aided my academic performance since my basic classes to this level (JSS 3). Below are some of the most embraced during the tutorial session:

  • Changed perspective: The lesson has indeed helped me to see things differently and boosts my vocabulary.
  • Encouraged action: It has motivated me to step out of my comfort zone and changed my mindset of some people were born with in-built knowledge.
  • Increased confidence: Whenever we gather together as peers to learn something new, mastery of challenges has boosted my self-esteem and belief in my own capacity.
  • Improved decision making: I am now better equipped to make smarter informed choices.
  • Fostered growth: It reminds me that challenges are opportunities to grow and become more resilient.

In conclusion, it has helped to shift from just knowing information to applying it to live a better and more intentional life. In appreciation, I and my  yellow colleagues say a big thank you for your care, support, kindness and love towards us.

Oyinloye Adunola Sharon

My name is Alege Toyosi. I am using this medium to tell you what the After-school care program has done to me.

Firstly, this program has enhanced my knowledge academically and socially which has made me understand things that I didn’t understand before.

Secondly, it has made me realize my goals and ambition in life and also increased my self esteem.  Before I had no aim and objective but ever since I attended this program I began to think optimistically and positively about my life and what I want to do with my life.

Thirdly, it has helped me to acquire a good reputation and moral principles. It also helped me to preserve my social and environmental integrity thereby making people associate with me
whenever they see me and also made me a good  example for others to emulate my characters
and lifestyle.

Lastly, this program has made me speak out when necessary and never to feel ashamed or embarrassed to express my opinion and thoughts. I had trouble expressing myself or speaking
out but through this program, I never felt ashamed or embarrassed to speak out.

In conclusion, I thank the sponsor of this program and also those people who help in the growth and development of the program because this program has helped the privileged and less
privileged in a positive way and I pray that this program shall never be put asunder.
